Oh, so everyone knows, I no longer allow anonymous questions
I want to know who I’m talking to instead of having a back and forth with an empty face.
Also, if you can’t say anything nice….don’t say anything at all, really.
Please do not tell me about my exboyfriend, including giving me unasked for advice, if you aren’t even brave enough to give me a name to respond to.
That’s all. Thank you for your time.
In hindsight, when that anon asked about my last sexual encounter, I should’ve said “There For Tomorrow at warped tour.” Ask me a nosey question and you shall get a snarky reply…I deleted all the messages anyway.
It fell from my lips like the fall and its leaves as they give up the ghost these words like a beggar, they crawl like the secrets we’d whispered up close when we slept on a bed made for one saying words for the feel of the breath on our necks till we whispered no more in our sleep that felt deeper than death
And if what I am saying is sweet I can promise it’s only for you it sits like an ex-lover’s roses to those who might doubt I am true But I’ve practiced my song in the silence and I’ve left lady doubt far behind My hands have prepared night and day now on your curves, deeply etched in my mind
So give me your breath till I take it I’ll teach you that lips might attend things better than words and still softer than any love poetry penned.
This’ll be kind of long, but it deserves every word. I had such an amazing time.
I loved Warped last year, but it was very hot and my first time. This year was a little cooler and I saw more bands, did more crazy stuff, and had a way better time.
No one my group wanted to see was playing until 2, so we walked through the merch tents and nonprofits for a couple hours. Reliant K played at 1, so we ended up seeing them. We ended up on the barrier of the split stage, and watched D.R.U.G.S. Before I saw them, I really disliked them. After seeing them, they are growing on me a lot. Craig Owens is such a commanding frontman. It was really intense to watch and I enjoyed it a lot.
Every Avenue played next, and I absolutely loved them. The power went out after three songs, and didn’t come back on for almost fifteen minutes. I felt awful for them but they handled it well; they threw a lot of free stuff into the crowd and we did the wave several times. They came back on and played three more songs.
We watched The Ready Set next, and the only word that really comes to mind is “adorable.” The music was so cute and Jordan was jumping around like a tiny kangaroo. Catherine ended up meeting him later and she said he was totally wiped out.
We had a bit of a break then and we walked around some more. We walked by There For Tomorrow’s tent and found out they were doing a full band photo op thing, so I have pictures with them to develop. We went back later and got a picture with Chris too. They are such nice guys, I love them.
Then we saw Black Veil Brides, and I know I’m going to catch flac for this but I really enjoyed them. The energy was insane and Andy sounded great live. Crowdsurfing to Fallen Angels was awesome.
Catherine and Jess left, so Erin and I continued on to see There For Tomorrow. We had to miss Gym Class Heroes, which sucked, but TFT was great. It was a small stage, but the crowd was big. Maika sounded flawless, and I’ve never really appreciated how great of a musician Christian is. And I know I’ve gone on and on about the basslines before.
Lastly, we saw Family Force 5, which was insane and bizzare and awesome. I don’t even have words for most of it, it was so strange. When they came out they had balloons with their faces on them attached to backpacks. During the last song their singer got in this huge plastic hamster ball and rolled around the crowd. It was a huge party.
Merchwise, I picked up a To Write Love On Her Arms bracelet, a There For Tomorrow tank, and the new Every Avenue CD (which is not available anywhere besides Warped Tour yet.) I took pictures with a disposable camera and I’ll scan and post them when they’re developed.
Cause after Halloween, Everything starts fading. I’m losing everyone -I go down like the sun. You know what I mean, I’m just someone in a summer town. Everyone I know has blown the coast - All we are is holding on but were letting it go. All we are are friends we keep, we lose them all and its bttersweet, I realize we will always be in a summer town.
On a happier note, darlings, I absolutely love the mountains of North Carolina. I really hope my college plans work out. If they do, I’ll be living up there for the next four years. It was lovely to see Cat and her grandparents, plus she got me hooked on this show Haven and lent me books.
We’re heading to Warped Tour on Thursday, with Erin and a friend of Catherine’s. It’s a wild time, but it’s one of my favourite things. I’m pretty pysched for There For Tomorrow, Gym Class Heroes, Family Force 5, Every Avenue…and honestly, I’m kind of interested in seeing Black Veil Brides. (They don’t look how they sound…seriously, that kid’s got a great deep voice. I love me some angry rock and roll.)
In other music related rambles, I just preordered Symphony Soldier. $61.50 with s&h. I love having a summer job. I’m so happy I have the means to fully support the bands and people I like. Also, since Borders is going out of business (every time I think about it I get upset. The world needs more bookstores) I’m heading out there today to buy books on sale.
I heard about Norway while I was in the mountains, and even now knowing the whole story I’m left speechless. That is such a tragedy. Remember, USA, we aren’t the only ones dealing with horrible terrorism.
I think it’s worth mentioning that we think of terrorism as a Middle Eastern, Muslim based thing…and the man responsible for all the needless pain in Norway was vehemently anti-Muslim, citing those beliefs as the reason for his massacre.
There’s no black and white. There are irrational lunatics on both sides of the spectrum as always. Please, do not let all of the innocents in Oslo have died in vain. Use this tragedy as a wake-up call that fear and separatism will only cause more pain.
Stay strong, Norway. You are in my prayers and thoughts.
I am coming to you abled forward with constitution made invincible -my bones those stark white pillars our ancestors passed in the capital crippled by grandeur of marble and maker at the whim of a king
I am coming to you untiring and elastic for uneven roads -my sinew a thousand bowstrings borrowed from tournament weapons to win the hand of a lover or to stop harms attempt to mark but an inch of your soft skin
I am coming to you with the war drum assurance each step exploding -my heart that great magic that throws river and ocean ‘cross leagues and ‘cross limbs but stops delicately in your midst to blush ponds in my cheeks
I am coming to you and I rent the words of old so that years from now we’ll sit and drink, and know without question that honor and love are not just the business of songs
Reddit User Sunberg put together a very in-depth collection of information surrounding the shooting in Oslo that I’ve featured below. WARNING: Some of the links below lead to images and video that are very graphic in nature.
Some bulletpoints of what happened:
This happened at the Norwegian Labour party’s summercamp for teenagers.
ca 600-700 people were at the island (Utøya is an island) most of them teenagers around 16 years old
The island is about 35km / 20miles from Oslo
The island is about 0.12km2 , or easier to visualize: 350 x 350 meters. It was also about 500-600 meter swim to get to the mainland. (via Humpa )
Some people were trying to swim others were hiding
Some people were saying that if you know someone there, don’t call them as they might have been hiding
People were posting to Facebook and Twitter asking for help
Total death toll is atleast 80, and police are saying it may still rise. Most of them children/teenagers.
Police have also found unexploded explosives on the island, and believes/almost certain that there is a link with the Oslo bombing 2 hours earlier.
Around 30 are seriously injured, among those 20 are critically injured
Breivik had purchased 6 tons of artificial fertilizers on the 4th of May. This is not considered unusual for a vegetable producer.
Update 09:14 Norwegian time:
At least 84 have been confirmed dead at the island, but numbers might still rise. None of the dead have been identified yet, and the police are still searching for bodies on land, but mainly in the water as he also shot at people trying to swim from the island.
About the theory that may have been more shooters:
Police just arrested a young man at a hotel close by in possession of a knife. He claimed he did not feel safe and it is still unconfirmed if he was involved in the massacre. He claimed he was a member of the Labour youth party (more)
Some news sources say the police are concerned that a second shooter might be free while others say are not looking for anyone in particular and nothing is conclusive (more) (more)
Some news sources say witnesses describe a second shooter dressed in civilian clothing and that police are investigating the witness statements. (more)
Witness stories: (Note: the translation may not be 100% accurate)
“He came to the island saying he was a police officer. Asked everyone to gather around and then began to shoot. He shot widely around himself. First no one believed that it actually was happening. We thought it was just bullshit, until we saw people with blood and… yeah… Then everyone began to run.” Did you see anyone who were dead? ”I… many. Very many.” Can you say a number? ”Around 15 when I was there trying to help by the beach. People were either shot or had drowned in the water. It was not a good sight. Everyone ran towards the forrest. There were injured people who we carried. People tried to hide, but then he came to them saying he was the police here to rescue them. When people approached him he shot them.” (more in the video)
“The first thing he did was to shoot the cutest girl he saw.” (article)
“He reloaded, shot more. He shot around me. I was lying still thinking: this is the end”. She played dead over 1 hour lying among bodies (article / blog post by the witness)
“He shot people in the head to make sure they were dead” (article)
“I felt the heat from his gun” … “Some people ran and hid in their tents. He went systematically from tent to tent with an automatic rifle and fired single shots. It was apparent that he wanted every shot to count.” … “Many took off their clothes and tried to swim. I tried to swim with my clothes on, which began to get heavy in the water, so I had to turn around. I hid on the beach with another group. He eventually came back and fired into the group. I played dead and lied down among the bodies. At the closest he was 2-3 meters away from me.” Adrian Pracon, a survivor, was shot in the shoulder ”I did not feel the shot at first. It was very loud and I was deaf in one ear for a while. It felt like pinch. The pain came afterwards” … “It almost seemed like he had done this before. Walking around and shooting people seemed normal to him.” (article)
If you’re like me and you’ve been away from the computer for 48 hours-ish, this was very helpful to trying to figure out what happened in Norway. Such a tragedy, it’s so hard to see violence and hate in the world and feel powerless to stop it. My thoughts go out to the families of the victims and Norway in general.
I hate the world we live in. I hope whoever is responsible of these attacks pays off. The shooter should be charged with at least a year for every life he took.
